Echo Chamber proves bias

News can be practically defined as anything fresh that attracts an audience, which explains the why sports becomes lead story when the local team wins a championship.

Al Gore complained of the “echo chamber” of talk radio back in 1999, where pro-GOP stories were pushed up and into the mainstream. He was correct.

If certain popular stories were being filtered from the MSM because of a particular political advantage, would that not prove a bias on the part of those who choose which stories are covered?

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t Gore’s “echo chamber” complaint prove a liberal bias existed in 1999?

  • So the prevalence of anti-Gore media and stories proves a pro-Gore conspiracy? The echo chamber didn't start in 1999. The echo chamber created: the Vince Foster conspiracy theories, the Whitewater investigation boondoggle, the Clinton death list, the idiotic Clinton drug dealing allegations, the Gore Buddhist temple nonsense, and much, much more.

    That liberal MSM at work.

  • Nice post, Josh, and I like your blog as well. I disagree, though- mainly I think you deliberatly extended my remarks so they would to make them easier with which to disagree.

I was proving a bias, and I never impled a conspiracy of any kind. There was a force that kept the stories popular on talk radio & red sources even though the stories were popular.

I agree there is a lot of nonsense in the news (red and blue) but that does not explain the ongoing bias which filters popular stories from the MSM.

An editor decides which stories to leave out. When the local team wins the championship it leads on the news- telling a lot about "standards". The echo chamber stated forcing certain types of stories into the MSM which they had previously been filtered out. The filter demonstrates a bias. One cannot recognize an echo chamber without tacitly admitting there was a filter.

Its that simple: the MSM filtered out popular Red stories, and as this was changing Gore did not like it one bit.

    I don't blame him.
